"Meet Us" introduces me to you, and hopefully makes you more comfortable in relating to me as a counselor, fellow human being, and fellow struggler on the path of life. I focus on the family origin of problems. I value professional knowledge, and I value the Bible as a source of spiritual wisdom about life. Those combined values lead to excellence in Christian counseling.
Let me introduce myself to you. I'm Dr. J. Ronald Cruse; my friends and family call me "Ron", so I am usually listed as Dr. Ron Cruse. My credentials follow.

Licensed Health Service Psychologist (Clinical), Oklahoma #156, 1973 to present
Having lived a long time, I have a lot of experience. Before becoming a Doctor of Psychology, over 40 years ago, I was a house parent in an orphanage, a church music, education, and youth director, and a university instructor in psychology.
By the grace of God, I have been married to the same great woman since 1958. Saundra and I have 4 children, and 13 grandchildren, ranging from elementary school age to college and medical school graduates. All of them have been my teachers and an invaluable source of my practical education. As of 2023, I have seven great-grandchildren, with the promise of more.
Since 1971 I have been a full-time Doctor of Psychology. I have directed two child guidance centers, a residential treatment center for adolescents, and a United Way-funded metropolitan counseling center. In 1982, I founded Christian Clinic for Counseling. I have been involved in teaching at six universities across the country, both Christian and secular.
I spent approximately 27 years as a member of the Oklahoma Psychological Association, the American Psychological Association, and the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. In OPA, I served on the Executive Committee, the Ethics Committee, The Professional Standards Review Committee, the Convention Program Committee, and I held the office of Secretary-Treasurer for the association. For many years I was active in the Christian Association for Psychological Studies. For 6 years I was on the Southwest Regional Board of CAPS and served as President in 1997. I became a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and was involved for a number of years In 2001, I received a certificate for completing their 30 hour "Marriage Works" curriculum. In 2006, I completed the Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital 20 hour course on herbal supplements, "Natural Remedies for Psychiatric Disorders: Considering the Alternatives." Annually, I do at least 20 hours of formal continuing education in addition to all of my informal continuing education.
I believe that every Christian counselor should be a servant through a community-based Christian church. My long term service commitments have been in teaching weekly Bible studies and singing in the church choir. I have also served in outreach, prayer ministry, children's ministry, youth camps, committees on stewardship, family life, new members, and
personnel. I am a strong financial supporter of the church and missions and have been a participant in mission trips to Mexico.
As a teen, I was a profane prankster, drinker, thief, cheat, liar, and hypocrite. Every Sunday, I went to the big First Baptist Church in my town. I lived a double life, one filled with inner conflict that no one knew. In, 1954, Jesus Christ came into my life, transformed me, forgave me, and freed me from from inner misery and guilt. Since that time, I've been on a discipleship journey with my Lord and Savior. By experience, I know His love, grace, mercy, and forgiveness. Today, I am still growing and developing "... toward the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
Professionally, I am a doctor of health service & clinical psychology. I have done thousands of psychological evaluations using a wide variety of tests with children and adults. For over 20 years I did psychological disability evaluations with children and adults. Currently, I do mental health screenings with the MMPI for law enforcement and armed security guard applicants and forward results to CLEET. I do counseling now primarily with adults who are covered by Medicare. My counseling specialties are clinical depression, anxiety disorders, stress, anger issues, relationship conflicts, and spiritual issues. Many insurances are accepted for payment.
